To treat puffiness or extra skin at the upper eyelids, the general practitioner makes an Incision along the fold. so that the scar formation is very less. It gets rid of excessive skin and fat. After Operation care
Before surgery

Before you take up the eye bag surgery or Blepharoplasty, we will schedule a detailed consultation with the surgeon. The discussion will be more about understanding your goals, so we can recommend what works the best to treat your condition.

The surgeon will evaluate your medical history, treatment records, medical conditions pertaining to eyes, details of your current medication, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, and so on. If you have eye conditions like glaucoma, dry eyes, or allergies, it is important that you discuss them in detail with the practitioner. He will also ask you for details on herbal, vitamin, and other supplements you might be taking.

During the procedure

Blepharoplasty is normally performed as an outpatient procedure where you can get back home and pursue your normal course of activities after the eye bags treatment.

For some patients, we recommend general anesthesia and for others, we use local anesthesia. If the procedure is performed to treat puffiness or excess skin on the upper eyelids, the surgeon makes a cut along the fold. He then removes excessive skin and fat to finally close the cut.

In case the eye bag surgery is intended to correct the saggy lower eyelids, the surgeon takes a cut either in the lashes or on the lower eyelid. The surgeon removes the excess fat and sagging skin.

Recovery and after Care

Bandages are used to cover the incision and they are removed after a few days of the surgery. Stitches are usually self-absorbing and so do not require manual intervention when it comes to removing. Stitches remain for a week or so after the procedure.

With Blepharoplasty, the recovery is pretty quick. You might experience swelling for a day or so, and this would eventually subside. Wash the area gently and make sure that it is always clean. This helps avoid infections. We recommend that you do not wear contact lenses for a few weeks after the surgical procedure.

You can also wear sunglasses to prevent your eyelids from excessive exposure to sun and wind. You may also use ice packs and cool compress on a frequency specified by the surgeon. This helps combat swelling and bruising issues that are common after the procedure.
