ACNE SCAR SUBCISION
How Subcision Works
- Preparation: The skin is cleansed, and a local anesthetic is applied to numb the treatment area.
- Subcision Process: A fine needle or specialized cannula is inserted under the scar. The the needle is moved horizontally beneath the skin to release the fibrous bands anchoring the scar.
- Healing and Collagen Production: The release of the bands stimulates the formation of new collagen, further improving skin texture over time.
Who Can Benefit?
- Best for rolling scars or certain boxcar scars caused by acne.
- It’s not effective for ice-pick scars or hypertrophic (raised) scars.
Post-Treatment Care
- Bruising and Swelling: These are common and subside within a few days to a week.
- Downtime: Minimal, but it depends on the severity of the scars and the number of areas treated.
- Aftercare: Follow the practitioner’s recommendations, which may include gentle skin care and avoiding sun exposure.
Risks and Side Effects
- Temporary redness, bruising, or swelling.
- Rare risks include infection, hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin texture.
- Combination Treatments

- Microneedling or RF microneedling.
